On the 17th of September, Rita and Catarina Almada Negreiros climbed the scaffolding of the ALMADA project to see up close for the first time the murals painted by their grandfather in 1945 at Gare Marítima de Alcântara. With the researcher Milene Gil, they had the opportunity to appreciate the details and technical quality of the paintings that are barely noticeable at ground level. They even had the possibility of observing through portable optical microscopy some of the paint layers at 430x magnification. ‘The feeling we have is as if we were seeing the paintings for the first time’ declares Rita after this visit, which aimed to share the experience and some of the results of the analytical campaign that took place in July and September of this year.
