He was one of the greatest Portuguese artists of the 20th century who would also be known as 'Almada, the one who cannot be confused with any other'. He was an exceptional human being who reflected upon life and everything around him, in his own way, at a time when expressing freely could have consequences. But he did and in many ways, including through his mural painting art production.\nHis paintings from the first half of the 20th century, like that of his counterparts in the rest of Europe and the world (eg. Siqueiros, Rivera, Portinari...), addresses themes that are more current than ever (poverty, work , emigration, women...).\n130 years later, Almada Negreiros is still talking to us. We just have to stop, look and listen.\nWhat other giants made mural painting in the first half of the 20th century? It would be very interesting to have as complete a global perspective.
