GUIDED VISITS
20 May 2023Opening the doors of the Laboratory– guided tour with the audience of the IMATERIAL festival that is taking place in the city of Évora between the 19th and 27th of May. Guided by José Mirão and Nick Shiavon, visitors with different backgrounds had the opportunity to get to know the facilities and eight researchers who explained their ongoing projects. Among them, the ALMADA project presented by Milene Gil, which showed what is being investigated and its relevance for the technical history of art and conservation and restoration

24 and 25 July 2022: 4 sessions of 1h with the general public at the Maritime station of Rocha do Conde de Óbidos,
One of the pillars of ALMADA project is knowledge sharing and public engagement. Therefore, on the 24th and 25th of July, we received 30 visitors in four sessions during the Hand’s on Heritage Science workshop. The visitors from different backgrounds - geology, biology, mathematics, portuguese, physics, chemistry, art, art history, philosophy, computer science, archaeology, conservation and restoration - or simply moved by curiosity and a taste for art, had the opportunity to see the analysis that are being carried out and the wall paintings up close. Below are some of the photos taken from their interaction with the students and research team.

21 July 2021: Guided tour to the scientific campaign in the Almada Negreiros hall of the Gare Marítima de Alcântara with the Portuguese Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education Manuel Heitor, Dean of the University of Évora Ana Costas Freitas and Vice-Rectors António Candeias and Ausenda Balbino; Members of the Board of the HERCULES Laboratory José Mirão, Cristina Dias and Patrícia Moita.

18 a 29 July 2022: Workshop Hand's on on Heritage Science (3rd edition) at Hall of Almada Negreiros in the Maritime Station of Rocha do Conde de Óbidos.
Analytical setup: Technical photography in the visible light range (VIS and Vis-Rak) and UVF, UVR and NIR.; handheld Optical Microscopy, colorimetery and spectrophotometry ; FORS, and XRF. Additionally, it was made a demosntration of Infrared reflectography (IRR) and analysis hyperspectral.

9 June 2022: Especially for kids-Workshop to learn with Almada Negreiros
Painting activity with children from the BE Patrício Prazeres school, in Lisbon. The goal was to make known some of the techniques and materials used by Almada in the two paintings from 1956, and from them to give wings to the imagination.
Participants: 15 students between 10 and 11 years old
