[ Workshop hand’s on in Heritage Science at the Maritime Station of Alcântara]
De 19 a 30 de julho decorreu no Salão Almada da Gare Marítima de Alcântara um workshop hand’s on em Ciências do Património integrado dentro do projeto ALMADA que contou com a participação de seis estudantes do Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Archeological Materials Science, do programa Doutoral HERITAS e ERASMUS+. Este treino de índole prática teve como finalidade a aprendizagem in loco de métodos de exame de área e de ponto com recurso a técnicas de imagem convencional e avançada, e técnicas de análise não invasiva aplicada ao estudo das pinturas murais de Almada Negreiros.
Os estudantes de seis nacionalidades diferentes tiveram a oportunidade de integrar um contexto real de trabalho, apoiados pela equipa de investigação. Para a maioria foi a primeira vez que subiram a um andaime e viram uma pintura mural de perto. Durante estas duas semanas, eles aprenderam a metodologia de aproximação ao estudo de uma pintura e das suas possibilidades de análise. O treino foi uma experiência ‘hand’s on’ cujos resultados serão divulgados nas futuras ações de disseminação do projeto.
Setup analítico: Fotografia técnica no visível (Vis e Vis-Ras) e no invisível (UVF, UVR e NIR); Microscopia ótica portátil, colorimetria e espectrofotometria, FORS, FT-IR e XRF.

From the 19th to the 30th of July, a han’s on workshop on Heritage Sciences was held at the Almada Hall of Gare Marítima de Alcântara as part of the ALMADA project, with the participation of six students from the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Archeological Materials Science, from the Doctoral program HERITAS and ERASMUS+. This practical training aimed at learning in loco methods of area and point examination using conventional and advanced imaging techniques, and non-invasive analysis techniques applied to the study of mural paintings by Almada Negreiros.
Students from six different nationalities had the opportunity to integrate a real work context, supported by the research team. For most it was the first time they had climbed a scaffold and seen a mural painting up close. During these two weeks, they learned the methodology of approaching the study of a painting and its possibilities for analysis. The training was a ‘hands on’ experience, the results of which will be disclosed in future project dissemination actions.
Analytical setup: Technical photography in visible (Vis and Vis-Ras) and invisible (UVF, UVR and NIR); Portable optical microscopy, colorimetry and spectrophotometry, FORS, FT-IR and XRF.
