Jumping of joy!
First day day of the 3rd edition of the workshop hand’s on Heritage Science at the Maritime station of Rocha do Conde de Óbidos, Lisbon.
As part of R&D project Unveiling the Mural Painting Art of Almada Negreiros (1938-1956): Technical, material and diagnostic scientific study as guides for its future conservation and fruition, a two-week analytical campaign will be carried out at Gare Maritime da Rocha de Condes de Óbidos for the study of mural paintings made by Almada Negreiros between 1946 and 1949.
The objectives are to identify and characterize the pictorial techniques and materials that make up the pictorial support and the paint layers and to determine their implications in the paintings current state of conservation. The training proposed is of a practical nature and aims to learn on site conventional and advanced imaging techniques, and non-invasive analysis techniques. The students will have the opportunity to integrate a real work context supported by the research team. The training is a ‘hand’s on’ workshop experience and the results of which will be disseminated in the outreach activities of the project.
