A SEARCH FOR HISTORICAL PIGMENTS

About 40 rusty cans of powdered pigments pour La fresque de LeFranc-Paris were found in Almada Negreiros' atelier in Portugal. The video at https://youtu.be/MAWfT14EKrc shows one of them that still contains cadmium yellow. We have more than 20 different colours that attest to the chromatic richness of this brand of pigments for fresco mural paintings.

The pigments were acquired at an uncertain date, possibly shortly before World War II. Almada Negreiros was certainly not the only European artist to use these materials in the first half of the 20th century. Have any of you come across a similar case of artists using these pigments?

If so, we'd love to talk to you.
